In 2016 there was a revival of the Ulster Team Championship, albeit in Rapidplay mode. No event was held in 2017 but a further year later and Brendan Jamison made up for this with an enlarged format. There were three separate Championship titles up for grabs under one roof and the event attracted no less than 70 players.
There were 5 Rounds and individual matches were played at five players per side. Total game points won was the format for deciding final placings.
Senior Section
Gabor Horvath made a return to Ulster chess after nearly two years away and his late addition to the Strand 1 ranks allowed them to field a squad of six - it was always going to be a tough ask for the other teams to beat them and so it proved with Strand posting five straight match wins.
Champions: Strand 1
(Gabor Horvath, Nikhil Joshi, David Hill, Ross Harris, Modestas Razbadauskas, Daniil Zelenchuk)

Intermediate and Junior Section
The Intermediate and Junior teams played in a combined section. Two of the teams, Derry and QUB 2 were handicapped by each having only four players available. In Derry's case this turned about to be significant - despite winning all five of their matches, they fell 1 point short of Strand 3's total game points.
Intermediate Champions: Bangor
(Alan McConnell, Brendan Jamison, Sam Moore, Gary Johnston, Andy Boal)
Junior Champions: Strand 3
(Adam Rushe, Ciaran Rowan, Michael Wong, James Wong, Louie McConkey)
